Breakdown: Ohio House Bill 183 ensures that men’s and women’s “restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, or shower rooms” are separated by biological sex. It also ensures that boys and girls may not be permitted to use the same sleeping facilities on overnight field trips. 

Why does PDE Action support this bill? 

Under the guise of inclusion and respect, and with pressure from the Biden Administration, schools across the United States have allowed students to access facilities based on gender identity instead of biological sex. Women and girls deserve to be safe in their facilities, and vice versa. Women and girls should not be forced to change or shower with biological males. 

Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. That does not mean, however, that students should be forced to change next to peers of the opposite sex.
